I am sitting here in my car, playing a simple game with my daughter. We were playing Eye Spy. The way we played is one of us said I see something red, or any color and the other person had to guess what the object. The reason I am mentioning this is that sometimes the simplest things can bring the most joy.
I know that in today’s world, it is easier to do many things. It’s easier to access information, to learn, to buy stuff. However, I feel, at times, all that can make us lose sight of the simple and amazing things that are all around us.
For example, writing this now, and the natural joy that I can do it. Or to play a game of 20 questions and hear my daughter’s enthusiasm when she stumps me and wins.
It can be hard to keep things simple. I feel we live in a world where people try to make things more complicated than they should be. For example, going to a restaurant and see 100 items on the menu or trying to pick out glasses. With all the different options, it can become overwhelming. That’s why I enjoy going to places that have limited choices.
So, Take a moment during your busy day and appreciate the simple joy in life. It could be a friendly smile, the shape of a flower, or even taking a deep breath in and out.
